The North Carolina Spot Festival Scholarship Pageant is a full non for profit organization. Starting in 1963 the Spot Festival was and still is the main event in Hampstead North Carolina.  Many young ladies have competed for the Spot Festival title as it has always been a respected and sought after title. We are the only Scholarship Pageant in Hampstead. Under new directorship in 2013 the pageant has made some changes and continues to grow with the community. In the past, we have had only two winners, a Queen and Princess. We currently hold an opportunity for many more girls to compete for scholarships covering ages from 0-24 with eight queens to be crowned.

The NC Spot Festival Scholarship Pageant provides and educational scholarship and prizes to eight young ladies who are selected to represent the Hampstead Community as Public Relations Queens. The Queens attend functions at neighboring community festivals and celebrations such as parades, coronations, community functions and visiting dignitary luncheons. Volunteerism is stressed by helping local businesses and civic groups with fundraising and public relations promotions. Since 2014 the Festival and Queens raised over $75,000 that went back to the local Topsail Schools, Pender EMS and Fire, Hunger NC, Wilmington Teen Suicide Prevention, The North Carolina Aquarium Foundation and Clean Water. They have also worked with Pink Heals for Breast Cancer, Make A Wish Foundation, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Cape Fear Equine, The Good Shepard Center, The Fallen Firefighters Association, Canines for Service, Teen Suicide Prevention, Hampstead Kiwanis, Wade Pregnancy Center, Charlie Ramsey Hat Drive  and more. Teaming with South Topsail and North Topsail PTO the Spot Queens provided Complete Christmas’s for five children and four adults in 2014 and six children 5 adults in 2015. In 2016 with the help of many local residents and groups we were able to provide Christmases for 13 children, all victims of Hurricane Matthew, we hope to be able to do even more this year.

The pageant is run by volunteers who work very hard to make the NC Spot Festival Scholarship Pageant a quality, well respected event. It is the desire of the committee to give each candidate the best experience she can possibly have, no matter what the outcome of the pageant may be. We are looking for inner quality and intelligence rather than the most beautiful face and figure. We are searching for some really nice young ladies who want to give their time to represent the community of Hampstead

Kelly and I love this organization and all the young ladies that have been brought in our life through it. We strive as best as possible to make it a life changing experience for everyone that competes and wins. We are not only here to crown winners and give out scholarships but to teach poise, self worth and confidence to every young lady we meet.
